Under the Bark is a growing new business with a unique concept in southern Connecticut. Combining modern holistic arboriculture with sustainable forestry practices and a 100% green attitude, UTB is making the most of our native hardwoods. We help to support our local communities by providing artists and builders with various lumber products through repurposing timber that has been salvaged from our residential and commercial tree removals. Nothing gets wasted. At a time when Connecticut’s timber is most often harvested for export by big logging companies, we continue to lack responsible arborists that repurpose timber from the urban forest. What people don’t realize is that Connecticut is home to some of the world’s most desirable hardwoods and they can be found right in our back yards. Here at Under The Bark, our arborists will work closely with you to salvage what value you might have in the trees we’ve come to care for.

Caring for trees is a passion for us at Under The Bark. We always encourage remediation before removal and we practice today’s latest tree care methods consistent with ISA and ANSI 300 standards. Your trees play an important role in the sustainability of our local ecosystems and should be preserved when possible. Trees of the urban forest should be regarded as providers and we encourage communities to keep and maintain those that are healthy but support the removal of potential hazards. When a tree has been chosen for removal, we do our best to make the most of it. We separate trees into 3 different byproducts; wood chips, fire wood and saw logs. Each are managed to repurpose and supply our local community with fuel and quality forest products.
